Robots for Restaurants & F&B

A restaurant robot earns its keep on a Friday night: full floor, tight aisles, guests who move without warning. Payload and path discipline decide whether the fleet helps or parks itself in a corner.

What actually breaks

Server hours burned on walking

Most of a server's shift is metres, not service. A D1 moves 40 kg per run — four tables' worth of plates — so the floor staff spend their steps at the table, not between it and the kitchen.

Wrong tables, cold plates

Verbal handoffs fail at rush hour. D1's tray lights point guests to the right shelf, with voice confirmation — fewer returned plates, fewer refunds.

Passage widths that defeat big carts

Between tightly packed tables, only a 70 cm body with suspended wheels belongs. D1 reads chair legs and re-plans instead of waiting for someone to clear the way.

How the fleet fits

One D1 covers a two-floor casual dining room on a single charge cycle. Multi-storey venues add elevator integration; bars add the ad screen for dessert and drinks promos.

The ordinary day, run by robots

What shifts look like after week one — the pattern that repeats across every site in this industry.

  • Kitchen loads four shelves; the robot runs the floor and the server handles only the last step at the table.
  • Peak: multiple tables per run, tray lights steering each guest to the right shelf, voice confirmations.
  • Idle hour: the screen works the room — dessert and drinks promos on a schedule, zero staff time.

Case notes

The same machines, in the same roles, in public deployment records elsewhere.

Japan · Kyushu ramen chain

D1

Four tiers at a time, one run covers several tables; the on-board screen sells seasonal sets while the kitchen is at full boil. The chain moved delivery to robots after years of staffing shortfall — the machine took the walking, staff kept the table service.

Netherlands · Gaja Korean BBQ

D1

Multi-table runs shortened pre-meal waits — table wait down and footfall up on the operator's own numbers, with the 21.5-inch display running a custom menu loop to the room.
